This curricular unit deals with the innovation and knowledge management processes in modern organizations.
Concretely, the objective is to give the basic capabilities to the students, so that they can understand the functioning of innovation and knowledge management and dealing with organizational change that result from these processes.
The knowledge and capabilities comprise the fundamentals of the economics of innovation and knowledge management, the complexity of organizational processes of change, the management of research activities, the management of knowledge and intellectual capital, the organization of R&D processes, and the interaction with the economy and the regional, national and international systems of innovation.

First, the curricular unit gives the necessary tools to the students, so that they can recognize and explain the innovation and knowledge management function of the organizations.
Second, it allows students to understand behaviors related to the functioning of innovation and knowledge management in organizations.
At the final stage the student will be able to understand the economics of innovation and the critical elements of the knowledge economy. It will allow the formulation of organizational policies in these matters that are adapted to the organizational structure of specific organizations. It is also aimed at developing critical analysis, writing research or technical report on the themes of innovation and knowledge management.
