In this curricular unit we aim to analyze the epistemological concepts used by colonial studies and by orientalism. We also analyze the evolution of European empires as multi-colonial approaches (16th-19th centuries) and cultural dialogues as imperial strategies in a multidisciplinary approach. While researching orientalism through the centuries we sum up the evolution of the Portuguese empire and expressions of orientalism in Portugal.
