In this curricular unit are studied themes concerning natural conservation putting the emphasis in aspects linked to geodiversity.  At the same time is discussing the many values of geodiversity and the reasons for treating our environment with care and respect, giving particular attention to Portuguese situation.

Sudents should be able to:
a) identify the many values of geodiversity: intrinsic, cultural, aesthetic, economic, functional and educational;
b) understanding threats to geodiversity;
c) use legislative approaches (Portuguese and European);
d) managing geodiversity;
e) assume attitudes of protecting geoheritage.

Continuous assessment is privileged: 2 digital written documents (e-folios) during the semester (40%) and a final digital test, Global e-folio (e-folio G) at the end of the semester (60%). In due time, students can alternatively choose to perform one final exam (100%).

Students should have some previous knowledge in Geology of preference.
