This course unit focus on the role of the voice as a vital element of human relation and expression. The bases, perspectives and activities to be suggested will be based on the vocal and expressive individuality of students, though we will try to come up with strategies for their progression and perfecting. Considering this goal, we will explore the multidisciplinary contribution of several areas to the edification of a technical/vocal repertoire for communicators. This Repertoire relies on a multicultural heritage of the humanity based on voice and oral communication.

In the end, students are expected to be able to:
• IDENTIFY AND BE AWARE on how to use and protect the phonation system and the voice;
• ADJUST ORAL PERFORMANCE to their personal limits and to several communication contexts and rituals.

The suggested syllabus will be carried out through an online methodological device, based on Voice Audio CD and some mini-films. All students are recommended to carry out an active and implying participation in order to create an interactive, creative and prolific learning community.
This course unit covers the analysis and the study of the following topics:
• Theme 1 - Body and Voice as Tools
• Theme 2 - The popular linguistic heritage
• Theme 3 - Reading, narration and declamation
• Theme 4 - The story teller, theatre and singing
• Theme 5 - Projects based on vocal communication quality

Continuous assessment is privileged: 2 digital written documents (e-folios) during the semester (40%) and a final digital test, Global e-folio (e-folio G) at the end of the semester (60%). In due time, students can alternatively choose to perform one final exam (100%).
