This curricular unit aims at the analysis of the origins of contemporary Spain, its social and cultural developments. The Spanish civil war (1936-1939) and Francoism will be a fundamental axis to realize the construction of "I", of "us" and "them" in the current vision of Spain and the Spaniards. The curricular unit will have a high component of debate and comparison of Spanish culture with the Portuguese, creating bonds of union between both democratic processes.
The ultimate goal is to provide the student with appropriate instruments and information for a critical view of the social and cultural development of Spain during the 20th century.
