This curricular unit aims to address the integrated environmental management cycle, composed of various stages and respective support tools. This cycle ranges from the identification and assessment of environmental problems; formulation of scenarios for the evolution of problems; definition of priorities and targets; selection of measures and instruments; to the implementation and control of environmental performance. The main international policies and recommendations for sustainable development are also addressed, including the United Nations goals for 2030.

• Understanding theories of concepts and principles in environmental management;
• Gathering and integrating information from various sources related to environmental management in order to present arguments or make recommendations;
• Understanding environmental issues considering their moral and ethical dimensions;
• Understanding and knowing how to use principles and tools of environmental politics which decision-makers can implement in the resolution of environmental problems;
• Assessing and understanding environmental scenarios and establishing priorities among the important environmental problems and targets.

Continuous assessment is privileged: 2 digital written documents (e-folios) during the semester (40%) and a final digital test, Global e-folio (e-folio G) at the end of the semester (60%). In due time, students can alternatively choose to perform one final exam (100%).
