The course Social Intervention with Children and Youth aims situated students in the problems of childhood and youth in contemporary societies and provide the foundations of social intervention with this public. To develop skills for social policy analysis and intervention in different contexts.

It is intended that at the end of this course, the student has acquired the following skills:

• Identify and problematize childhood and youth as social constructions;

• Analyze life trajectories and social problems in contemporary societies in relation to vulnerable situations of children and young people;

• Characterize and analyze social policies in the national and european context;

• Know and discuss theories and methodologies of social intervention;

• Perspect and analyze policies and social responses for children and youth;

• Reflect on ethical issues in the context of social intervention with children and youth.

 

 

In this course the following themes will be worked:

• Theoretical and conceptual perspectives of childhood and youth

• Current issues: being a child and being young today

• Social policies for childhood and youth

• Theories and models of social intervention with children and youth

• Social intervention with children and youth: case study and analysis

Continuous assessment is privileged: 2 digital written documents (e-folios) during the semester (40%) and a final digital test, Global e-folio (e-folio G) at the end of the semester (60%). In due time, students can alternatively choose to perform one final exam (100%).
