The overarching aim for this course unit is to promote communicative achievement in English. Teaching methodologies will focus on linguistic development, consolidation of grammar structures, and sociolinguistic competencies. Metacognitive strategies will also be promoted, stimulating self-assessment and self-improvement in the linguistic dimension.
English II deals with topics related to the individual, society and the world, which are included in the third level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (B1.2), consolidating the competencies acquired in the course of English I.

• discussion of arguments (reasons and causes) underlying an opinion
• communication of thoughts, concepts, feelings, experiences and events
The main themes and lexical areas to be covered are: memories, description of cities and events, jobs, TV and radio programs, travelling, present-day society in a rapidly changing world.
The main grammar contents are: auxiliary verbs; verb tenses (present simple and present continuous; past simple and past continuous; present perfect and past simple; present perfect simple and present perfect continuous; future clauses with if, when, etc; past perfect); reported speech; passive voice; modal verbs; adjectives.

Continuous assessment is mandatory: 2 digital written documents (e-folios/tests) during the semester (40%) and a final assessment (global e-folio/global test) at the end of the semester (60%).
Students are required to obtain the bibliography before the course unit starts; it will be needed since the 1st week of the semester.
