This course unit promotes French language knowledge improvement, through discovery and analysis of documents - authentic or others - related to contemporary French society and European countries.

The course unit French VI corresponds to part of the competences of level C1 defined by the Council of Europe in the Common European Framework of Reference.
Students are expected to be able of analysing a text, as well as understanding its structure and writing comments respecting the textual organisation and argumentation principles. They must equally be able of writing summaries, reports and notes as well as presenting an issue both in writing and verbally.

Expressing opinions and feelings, relating an event, writing a short article, a protest letter, commenting current issues. Communication competence will be practised in the following thematic areas: social changes, cultural events, literature, hobbies.

The mandatory evaluation method is continuous assessment.
Continuous Assessment:
– 40%: work carried out throughout the semester, corresponding to two e-Folios (e-Folio A and e-Folio B), submitted via the virtual classroom.
– 60%: Completion of a final written assignment, referred to as the e-Folio Global.

Students are recommended to have attended to French I, II, III, IV and V.
