This curriculum unit evolves through a step-by-step approach that covers the following aspects of multimedia systems and applications:
1.Definition of the concepts of multimedia and interactivity, and explanation of the terminology used.
2.Characterization of digital information, the digitization process, and the advantages of digital representation.
3.Classification of interactive multimedia applications and presentation of their main characteristics, accompanied by concrete examples.
4.Description of the phases of multimedia applications projects, identifying the activities to develop and materials to produce.
5.Introduction of the fundamental principles of design of interactive multimedia interfaces, which allows for the production of simple and accessible applications.
6.Characterization of concepts and technologies associated with advanced multimedia applications such as virtual reality applications, and interactive TV applications.
7.Practical projects to train the planning, design, production and testing of content and multimedia applications.

It is intended that, at the end of this Course, the student has acquired theoretical and practical skills that allow him to explore the capabilities of text, image, audio, video, animation, and interactivity of current technologies of multimedia communication, in particular, be able to:
• clearly identify the fundamental principles and issues involved in the development of multimedia applications;
• describe the technical aspects upon which these applications are based;
• use theoretical knowledge and technical capabilities that allow him to implement multimedia communication.

Continuous assessment is privileged: 2 digital written documents (e-folios) during the semester (40%) and a final digital test, Global e-folio (e-folio G) at the end of the semester (60%). In due time, students can alternatively choose to perform one final exam (100%).
