This curricular unit aims to recognise the importance of computer security in the current context of the information society, to dominate the central concepts related to the safe transmission of data, in addition to architecting and implementing efficient mechanisms to cope with the Main threats to computer network security.

Introdução à Segurança Informática: Problemática, Definições, Standards;
Criptografia: Princípios e algoritmos convencionais, algoritmos simétricos, algoritmos assimétricos, sistemas de chave pública e autenticação de mensagens;
Mecanismos de Autenticação e Identificação;
Segurança em serviços de rede: Correio eletrónico, IP, WWW;
Segurança em sistemas informáticos: Intrusões e vírus, Firewalls.

E-learning

Continuous assessment is privileged: 2 digital written documents (e-folios) during the semester (40%) and a final digital test, Global e-folio (e-folio G) at the end of the semester (60%). In due time, students can alternatively choose to perform one final exam (100%).
