This course unit identifies the domain and objectives of Social Psychology, providing a historical perspective of it. The course unit covers different study areas including attitudes. In this context it tries to define, analyse and understand attitudes, the concept and their psychological functions, training and measurement. Social representations are also included within the subjects addressed in this course unit along with aspects on their genesis, research areas, relationship with education and application fields. Finally, matters concderning to prejudice and discrimination are dealt with (definition, origin and consequences).

Students are expected
• to understand what is social psychology and to identify the main objectives of this course unit;
• to acquire the basic concepts, to understand the theories and to identify the issues concerning attitudes in social psychology;
• to acquire the basic concepts, to understand the theories and to identify the issues concerning representations in social psychology;
• to acquire the basic concepts, to understand the theories and to identify the issues concerning prejudices and discrimination

Online learning with continuous supervision favoring asynchronous communication (Moodle platform).
Students have to perform the tasks requested by the teacher: essays, critical recensions, reports, protocols, etc. All works will be evaluated and/or classified.

Continuous assessment is privileged: 2 digital written documents (e-folios) during the semester (40%) and a final digital test, Global e-folio (e-folio G) at the end of the semester (60%). In due time, students can alternatively choose to perform one final exam (100%).
