Training readers, nowadays, means considering different audiences and foreseeing the exploration of different texts, in various supports, using various methodologies. Starting from the inventory of relevant aspects in the field of education and reading, in different contexts, this curricular unit discusses the foundations and practices of the design, planning, implementation and evaluation of activities, projects, programs in this area.

The relevance of the objectives and contents of the curricular unit is justified by the possibility of contributing to the acquisition and development of basic, specific and transversal skills, essential for an education technician, especially when developing functions in contexts of reading promotion and animation.

  • Education;
  • Reading;
  • Activities, projects, programs;
  • Reading animation and mediation

It is intended that, at the end of this curricular unit, the student will have acquired the following skills:

– identify issues within the framework of education and reading;

– use appropriate techniques for searching information on the internet and in libraries, independently, using sources of information that complement the suggested bibliography;

–analyze, in a critical and thoughtful way, texts on studies carried out in the context of the relationship between education and reading;

– apply technical and scientific knowledge to diagnose situations, and outline proposals for intervention in education and reading.

During the semester, this curricular unit will focus on the following topics:

(i) Education and reading: fundamental concepts;

(ii) Education and reading: intervention contexts;

(iii) Education and reading: cases and activities/projects.

The teaching and learning resources are understood as all the bibliographic material existing online or offline to support learning, and so they may take different formats. In addition to the basic bibliography, listed below, the remaining learning resources will be indicated (and in some cases provided) in the virtual space of the curricular unit.

Given the nature of the skills to be developed and evaluated in this curricular unit:

- the evaluation assumes only the mandatory continuous assessment regime;

- there is no crediting of the e-folios’ grades made in the year prior to the attendance of the curricular unit.
