This course unit studies the literature produced in Guinea, Sao Tome and Principe and Cape Verde. As far as poetry is concerned, the reading of an selected anthology promotes an overview of the poetry in Lusophone countries. As far as prose is concerned, three works of compulsory reading are selected: Kikia Matcho by Filinto de Barros, Caminho, 1999 (Guinea), Rosa do Riboque by Albertino Bragança, Caminho, 1997 (Sao Tome) and No Inferno by Arménio Vieira, Caminho, 2000 (Cape Verde).

• Knowing the most important moments in the process of empowerment and affirmation of the literatures in Cape Verde, Guinea and Sao Tome and Principe.

Continuous assessment is privileged: 2 or 3 digital written documents (e-folios) during the semester (40%) and a presence-based final exam (p-folio) in the end of the semester (60%).
In due time, students can alternatively choose to perform one final presence-based exam (100%).
