Students are expected to be able to:
• recognize the major artistic and cultural changes in both countries, during the 50s and 60s of the 20th century;
• articulate the message of poetry, particularly that of Agostinho Neto, with the historical and political background of Angola;
• identify the founding poetic texts of Mozambique;
• define and contextualize the concept of Blackness ("Negritude"), identifying their themes and motifs;
• recognize the innovative nature of literary discourse of Luandino Vieira;
• interpret the ideological and symbolic dimension of Pepetela and Mia Couto's fictions.

Continuous assessment is privileged: 2 or 3 digital written documents (e-folios) during the semester (40%) and a presence-based final exam (p-folio) in the end of the semester (60%).
In due time, students can alternatively choose to perform one final presence-based exam (100%).
