This unit introduces concepts of electronic spreadsheets, namely in Excel, applicable to different domains in economy and management. Study and solving Linear Programming problems through the efficient allocation of limited resources to achieve a certain goal will be considered. Application of MS Excel Solver tool in solving linear programming problems. Techniques to develop data visualization graphics.

It is intended that students get knowledge how to use MS Excel spreadsheet, respective functionalities and applications to solve management problems. After being approved in the unit, the student must be able to:
• Good command of the rules to develop functions and formulas;
• Analysis, treatment and database management
• Automatization of tasks through the use of command and functions macros
• Solve Linear Programing problems using the MS Excel Solver.
• Understand and know how to use the integration with SQL databases.
• Know how to use the Ms Excel Data visualization tools.

Continuous assessment is privileged: 2 digital written documents (e-folios) during the semester (40%) and a final digital test, Global e-folio (e-folio G) at the end of the semester (60%). In due time, students can alternatively choose to perform one final exam (100%).

Basic texts are written in Portuguese, however students are recommended to be competent in English as complementary readings may be in that language, if needed.
