The Curricular Unit (CU) "Quality Management" is structured to provide an in-depth and practical analysis of quality management techniques, which are essential for raising the quality and competitiveness of organizations. The course aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills to effectively approach quality management methods and techniques applied to the development of processes, products and services, promoting an integrated vision of this management in organizations.
Students will acquire fundamental skills, including an understanding of quality management techniques, addressing the main objectives and requirements of the ISO Quality standards, and an understanding of the main methods and techniques in quality systems. They will also be equipped with the skills to contribute to improving quality processes and understand the processes associated with planning, implementing and controlling quality.
Students acquire a comprehensive and applicable knowledge of quality management. Students are prepared to face real challenges and make a significant contribution to the improvement and success of organizations with appropriate choices of tools and methodologies for solving quality problems in which they work or will work.
The relationship between quality, productivity and competitiveness is based on the approach of Quality as a management philosophy with specific tools and methodologies.

Continuous assessment is privileged: 2 digital written documents (e-folios) during the semester (40%) and a final digital test, Global e-folio (e-folio G) at the end of the semester (60%). In due time, students can alternatively choose to perform one final exam (100%).
Knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Basic texts are written in Portuguese and English, however students are recommended to be competent in
English as complementary readings may be in that language.
