This course unit focuses on issues concerning morphogenesis and sedimentogenesis. It will also focus on fundamental topics in cristalography and mineralogy.

• Being able to apply concepts and principles which are fundamental to the crystal structure of minerals in the interpretation of a wide range of geological phenomena.
• Being able to interpret the processes of the Earth’s external dynamics.

Morphological crystallography. Crystal chemistry. Mineral classification. Rock alteration and soils. Weathering agents. Sedimentogenesis and sedimentary rocks.

Continuous assessment is privileged: 2 digital written documents (e-folios) during the semester (40%) and a final digital test, Global e-folio (e-folio G) at the end of the semester (60%). In due time, students can alternatively choose to perform one final exam (100%).
