The Unit "Themes of Portuguese Literature" introduces students to current texts that are part of a literary tradition in a variety of styles and genres through two major themes. Textual and  cultural analysis, which slows poetry, romance and drama, will be complemented by an intertextual and compared approach focusing on shared codes and its transformation.

At the end of this unit the student should be ableto:


• identify aestheticprocedures in Portuguese literary tradition and relatethem to previous codes;

• comment on literarytexts properly integrating themin literary and culturaltradition.

The curricular unit is organized in two main themes:

Much of the secondary literature will be available online in the virtual classroom.

Continuous assessment is privileged: 2 digital written documents (e-folios) during the semester (40%) and a final digital test, Global e-folio (e-folio G) at the end of the semester (60%). In due time, students can alternatively choose to perform one final exam (100%).
