Thesis in Portuguese Linguistics
In the annual PhD thesis writing seminar (Portuguese Linguistics), the student continues, develops and concludes the research foreseen in the schedule prepared during the 1st semester of the 2nd year of the course (Orientation Seminar I), under the guidance of the chosen teacher. Throughout the academic year, she/he conducts research activities that lead to the writing of the PhD thesis.

The seminar aims to promote in the student several skills that are associated with conducting a scientific research:
‒ to search and to manage information;
‒ to reflect critically on relevant bibliography and its main contents;
‒ to adopt relevant work methodologies within the scientific area;
‒ to reveal growing autonomy as a researcher;
‒ to communicate with correctness, accuracy and precision the results of her/his reflection.
Contents of this seminar are specific of the topic to be addressed and of the speciality in which the research is conducted.

The assessment depends on the quality of the conducted research and on the public defense of the PhD thesis that will take place before a jury.
