The seminar on Classical Portuguese Literature focuses on canonical works from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, taking into account the cultural and historical context in which they were produced.

Two genres are given particular prominence: lyric poetry and drama. Attention will be paid both to the literary conventions and the evolution of each of these genres, as well as to their textual transmission. General historical and literary frameworks will be combined with close analyses of selected works.
