This course unit introduces Literature as an institution, its socio-cultural, historical and aesthetic dimensions, the main features of literary works as well as the study of literary genres and literary evolution.
The systematization of fundamental concepts in the field of literary theory is accompanied by many examples with the intention to demonstrate the close connection between theory and practical texts that must take place in this study area.

Students are expected to acquire the necessary knowledge for starting a theoretical and systemic approach of literature not only as an object of study but also as a meaningful object of aesthetic enjoyment.

Continuous assessment is privileged: 2 or 3 digital written documents (e-folios) during the semester (40%) and a presence-based final exam (p-folio) in the end of the semester (60%).
In due time, students can alternatively choose to perform one final presence-based exam (100%).
