SME Management (LGVR)
This course aims to study the various facets of SME management and to characterize the challenges and the various elements and facets of the life of a company of this type in today's economy. The various classic themes of SME management will be covered, such as organization, planning, management, control and human resources. Also the question of distribution and retail. In addition to this classic approach, attention will be paid to topics such as decision-making in situations of varying risk, complexity and more or less radical uncertainty. A chapter will also be devoted to the topic of foresight for these companies, as well as fundamental management and organizational issues.

The student will learn the basics of the management of SMEs as well as the functions and critical dimensions of the management these organizational settings. The student will understand better the management function in distinct organizational settings for SMEs. The student will finally be able to elaborate diagnosis and realize reasoned analyses of the management systems and propose suggestion for improving the workings of small organizations.

Continuous assessment is privileged: 2 digital written documents (e-folios) during the semester (40%) and a final digital test, Global e-folio (e-folio G) at the end of the semester (60%). In due time, students can alternatively choose to perform one final exam (100%).

Basic texts are written in Portuguese, however students are recommended to be competent in English because complementary readings may be in English.
