The Spanish III course is aimed at Spanish-speaking users with a previous level of A2 who wish to advance to independent users.

Spanish B1.1,

Independent user level.

Throughout this module, the student will acquire knowledge of Spanish corresponding to level B1.1 of the European Framework of Reference for Languages (Independent user):

  • Can understand the main issues when clear, standardised language is used and the subjects are familiar to him (topics covered at work, school and leisure time, etc.)
  • Can handle most situations encountered in the community where the target language is spoken.
  • Can produce a simple and coherent speech on subjects that are familiar or of personal interest.
  • Can describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes and ambitions, as well as briefly explain reasons and justifications for an opinion or a project.

  • Pragmatic, discursive, functional, sociolinguistic and lexical resources necessary to produce elementary descriptive, expository, narrative and argumentative texts, appropriate to the situations and communicative purposes proposed.
  • High-frequency discursive markers and connectors according to level B1.
  • Markers of communicative functions related to the themes and situations addressed.
  • Main morphosyntactic and lexical specificities of the prestigious varieties of Spanish.
  • Lexical and morphosyntactic interferences in the acquisition of Spanish by Portuguese speakers. Form and use of grammatical units from a contrastive perspective with a focus on learners of related languages.

The mandatory evaluation method is continuous assessment.
Continuous Assessment:
– 40%: work carried out throughout the semester, corresponding to two e-Folios (e-Folio A and e-Folio B), submitted via the virtual classroom.
– 60%: Completion of a final written assignment, referred to as the e-Folio Global.
