Crowdsourcing and human computing are emerging themes, combining computer science and economics, to understand how people can be used to solve complex tasks that are beyond the capabilities of algorithms and artificial intelligence. In this curricular unit, students will acquire crowd programming skills.
Taxonomy for crowdsourcing and human computing: motivation; quality control; aggregation; human capabilities; and flow and process control.
Quality control: methods based on agreements; gold standards; economic incentives; reputation systems.
