Department: DEED
ECTS: 7
Scientific area: Philosophy
Total working hours: 182

This course unit shows how supervision is a privileged field for the promotion and implementation of ethical principles. Having analyzed the conceptual definition and the field of ethics application, the course unit attempts to further analyze the primary aspects of the ethical and deontological dimension of the educational process. Combining the philosophical dimension with diverse approaches in the school area, such as pedagogy, psychology and sociology, it discusses the training of values, in the perspective of the development of human capacity in creating autonomous and free decisions. A significant part of the research is directed towards practical ethical activities, i.e. as askesis for self care.
At the end of this course unit, the student must be able to critically position itself in relation to the importance of implementing ethical principals in teaching, to view pedagogical supervision as a mix of self and external training and to take the Socratic principle of self-knowledge as a basic condition for educational leadership.
