This curricular unit aims to provide students with the fundamental knowledge and practices related to the development of 3D virtual reality environments. In a first phase, virtual environments, their history and operating principles are addressed. In the second part, we study the technologies and their concrete use in the design of 3D objects, virtual characters (avatars) and multi-user virtual environments.
It is expected that the student when completing this course unit will be able to:
1. Know the importance of technologies and virtual reality systems and multi-user environments in the design of three-dimensional information spaces;
2. Identify the concepts, models and techniques for designing and programming environments and virtual characters for multi-user systems;
3. Create models and produce prototypes that allow the application of the main fundamentals and techniques for the development of 3D applications and systems;
4. Design and program virtual environments and multi-user systems in an experimental and commonly used context.

Evaluation is made on individual basis and it involves the coexistence of two modes: continuous assessment (60%) and
